The Death of Medusa, Original Acrylic on canvas

Original acrylic on canvas. 

Created as the second in a series I call the Death of the Goddess, The Death of Medusa portrays the end of her life at the hands of Perseus. From her blood was born Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two sons by the sea god Poseidon. In my portrayals, I've shown Medusa as a victim of man's power over women. A victim of abuse and her head made a trophy, she gives her last moments to give life to her children.

I've taken artist liberty with my portrayals of old mythology. These stories were made in a time that was different from now. Time and life evolves stories and gives life to new art and ideas.
