Inspired by the great painter Boticelli and his Birth of Venus, The Death of Venus depicts Venus' virtues being ripped from her. Her strength is being overpowered by Zephyrus. Instead of covering her exposed body, the goddess of spring is exposing her and cutting her beautiful hair. All while the giver of love, Cupid rips apart her fertility. Venus has such a sadness in her face, the viewer can't help but feel the pain in her heart.
